Chapter 24

Chapter 24

Indians who lived Mexico were in great danger because the Spanish was coming. The Spanish killed many Indians because they brought diseases to their country. The Spanish tried to make America full of Spanish people by marrying Americans and giving birth. They wanted to make Spanish kids, not American. But, instead of Spanish or American, they made hybrids. Hybrid is another word for a mix of two different things or people. Mexicans called hybrids mestizos. When a Spanish person marries a African-American, their child is called mulattoes by the Mexicans. Mulattoes means 'mule'. Different people were living scattered in Mexico, Peru, and other colonies. Some Spanish colonies were not nice to each other. Even in the 14th and 15th centuries they weren't nice. In America, the Spanish's similarities shrunk.
