Christopher Columbus wanted to sail from Spain to China and Japan. King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella sent Columbus to meet the Grant Khan. Columbus sailed out to sea on August 3, 1492. On October 12, they spotted land. It wasn’t China or Japan. It was the Bahama Islands.
Columbus met a tribe called the Taino. The Taino brought him to Cuba, not Japan or China. Her brought pearls, Indians, parrots, and gold ornaments back from Cuba to the king and queen.
